A video of an Iranian woman in her underwear outside Tehran's prestigious Islamic Azad University went viral over the weekend. Shared online on November 2 by the Iranian student website Amir Kabir, then picked up by the human rights groups Hengaw and Amnesty Iran, the images once again highlight the tenacious repression suffered by Iranian women.

According to several human rights NGOs, the young woman, aged 30, removed her clothes "in protest against abusive enforcement of compulsory veiling be security officials," the Basij paramilitary force, Amnesty Iran, a branch of Amnesty International, said.
