

More than 506,000 people took to the streets across France on Thursday, September 18, according to French authorities. This included 55,000 in Paris, according to the Paris Police Prefecture, and 451,789 in the rest of the country, the Interior Ministry reported, which released consolidated figures at 6 pm. The hardline trade union CGT reported "more than one million people" at demonstrations held throughout the country.
In Paris, some stores were targeted, and a bank window was smashed in a neighborhood on the right bank on Boulevard Voltaire. Police, who were sometimes targeted by protesters with projectiles, threw tear gas into crowds on numerous occasions.
The Interior Ministry reported 181 arrests. Eleven law enforcement officers and 11 other people, including a journalist, were injured during the incidents that occurred during the marches.
