A 15-year-old boy was in police custody on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Five days earlier, he had killed his mother (two bullets in the head), his father (three bullets in the head), shot the dog and set fire to the family home before fleeing. Everything burned down. "Would you like to make a voluntary statement to us?" the police officer asked him.
"Yes," he said, according to the police report. "The idea came to me on Wednesday. I made a first attempt. I tried, but I couldn't do it. I tried again on Sunday. What happened was that from 10 pm onward I spent the night thinking and going round in circles. Around 4:30 am, 5 am, I put on a balaclava and took my father's rifle. Then I went up the stairs to my parents' bedroom. I spent 45 minutes, or maybe more than an hour, on the stairs, going up step by step. Wondering what I should do. Then I stopped at the last few steps, asking myself more and more questions about what I should do.
"Then my mother opened her bedroom door. Since she had seen me and I had no way of turning back, I fired. My mother fell to the floor. My father woke up. I climbed the last few steps and shot him. [Police officer writes that the boy is crying.] I came back down and packed as best I could. I went to get a can of petrol. Then I killed the dog because it was making too much noise. Then I went upstairs first to my mother's workshop. I set fire to a place where there was wood. I went down one floor and set fire to my bedroom. Then I went back to where my parents were and emptied the rest of the petrol on them and set fire to it. Then I took the bag I'd packed and put it in the car. I drove without knowing where I was going."
