An army of zombies invaded the medieval streets of Granada's Albaicin. In early February, the film crews for the next season of The Walking Dead set up camp in the Andalusian city, asking local extras to grow out their beards and hair. Further south, the cast of Young Sherlock took to the town of Cadiz in period costume, where British director Guy Ritchie was filming his new series about the youth of the famous English detective. Meanwhile, in the Canary Islands, Frenchman Guillaume Nicloux was filming a new feature. In Oviedo, in Asturias, the crews of the latest installment of the American blockbuster The Fantastic 4 had packed their bags in November 2024. This was the date on which Lucky Luke, played by French actor Alban Lenoir, left the reconstructed Wild West in the Tabernas desert, in the province of Almeria, after Jean Dujardin dressed as Zorro (in the series directed by Emilie Noblet and Jean-Baptiste Saurel, released in 2024).

The number of international film shoots has been increasing in Spain since, in 2020, the government raised tax credits to 30% for the first million euros spent, and 25% for the remainder, for a maximum of €10 million deducted – a limit pushed to €20 million in 2023. This decision was accompanied, in 2021, by a strategic plan, dubbed "Spain, audiovisual hub of Europe," aimed at increasing audiovisual content production by 30% in five years.
