DISNEY+ – ON DEMAND – TV SERIES
Chases punctuated by bursts of automatic weapons, massive explosions, double and triple agents, a flamboyant young woman as capable of seducing a star as setting a city ablaze: In Say Nothing, the markers of an action series are confronted with reality; that of the Troubles that tore Northern Ireland apart from the end of the 1960s to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.
Adapted from the superb book of the same name by American journalist Patrick Radden Keefe, the show Say Nothing turns history – of a country at war and the people who fought and suffered from it – into fiction without ever losing sight of its roots in the ocean of pain that resulted from the Troubles. This rigor, supported by an impeccable cast and the meticulous direction of Michael Lennox, who directed four of its nine episodes, makes Say Nothing a highly intelligent thriller. Or, if you prefer, a highly engrossing lesson in politics.
