A little over two weeks after his final concert on July 5, when more than 40,000 fans gathered for Black Sabbath's farewell in the band's hometown of Birmingham, the Prince of Darkness has taken his final bow.

After the deaths of Motörhead's Lemmy Kilmister (1945-2015) and Ronnie James Dio (1942-2010), hard rock has lost one of its last legendary figures and one of its most distinctive voices. Ozzy Osbourne, nicknamed "Madman," "Prince of Darkness" or simply "Ozzy," has died at the age of 76, his family announced on Tuesday, July 22, in a statement. "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.
