At a press conference in The Hague on Monday, February 24, two human rights NGOs revealed that they had asked the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the "accessorial roles" of United States officials in "Israeli war crimes" in the Gaza Strip. The US-based organization Democracy Now for the Arab World (DAWN) and the Palestinian NGO Al-Haq accused former US President Joe Biden, his former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former Defense Minister Lloyd Austin and several senior officials of "aiding and abetting" the crimes against humanity and war crimes for which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant are being prosecuted by the ICC. The NGOs added to that the crime of genocide.

The accusations made by DAWN and Al-Haq are detailed in a 172-page document, which was transmitted to the ICC prosecutor on January 19, the last day of the Biden administration, but was only made public on Monday. The two organizations claimed that the actions of the three officials must have been "deliberate and made with awareness" and "provided Israel with Military Support and Political Support while aware that their conduct contributed to the criminal operations of the group," including the delivery of weapons, for a total amount of $17.9 billion (€17.1 billion). International law prohibits the supply of weapons to a third country if they are used to commit crimes. "The bombs that destroyed schools and hospitals are American bombs," said lawyer Reed Brody. "The campaign of murder and persecution was carried out with the support of the US. American officials knew what Israel was doing and yet their support never stopped."
