

They have buried the hatchet. Meta, led by Mark Zuckerberg, and Anduril, a cutting-edge defense technology company founded by Palmer Luckey, announced on Thursday, May 29, a new partnership focused on military technologies related to immersive reality (XR, combining virtual reality and augmented reality).
This is not their first collaboration. Luckey is known for co-founding Oculus, a pioneering virtual reality company specializing in headsets for video games, in the early 2010s. Oculus was acquired by Facebook in 2014 for $2 billion, which marked the beginning of Zuckerberg's ambitions in the virtual reality sector.
Luckey later left Facebook in 2017 and immediately founded Anduril. His departure attracted significant attention, against a backdrop of political tensions within Facebook. A libertarian, Luckey had voiced his support for Donald Trump early on. In 2016, he was accused of backing a group fiercely critical of Hillary Clinton, which reportedly contributed to his ousting.
