Far-right Rassemblement National (RN) leader Jordan Bardella spoke of only a few "black sheep." In other words, a handful of candidates nominated for the parliamentary elections by the RN whose positions failed to fit into the party line. For the time being, however, Bardella has refrained from identifying precisely who these problematic candidates might be, what precise facts they would allegedly be accused of, and how he intends to follow up on the matter.
However, several media outlets, including Le Monde, have shown that it is not just a few, but more realistically dozens of RN representatives who could be classified in this category. Although many of them were defeated in the elections, there are nevertheless 21 RN lawmakers who have been associated with identitarian movements, made hateful or discriminatory comments, challenged the rights of women and LGBTQ+ people, or denied the seriousness of global warming.
