It once seemed impossible. Until now, no one had ever been entrusted with the creative direction of all of Dior's fashion lines. Yet on Monday, June 2, Jonathan Anderson was named creative director for both the women's and men's collections. This dual role is crucial: with €8.7 billion in revenue in 2024 (according to the bank HSBC), Dior is the second-largest fashion brand within LVMH (behind Louis Vuitton). It is also a house for which LVMH's chairman and CEO, Bernard Arnault, feels a particular attachment. The silhouettes once captivated his own mother's imagination, and he appointed his daughter, Delphine, as Dior's CEO in February 2023.

The creative director chosen for this flagship brand is a 40-year-old British designer well-known within fashion circles, although less familiar to the general public. Anderson built his own label, JW Anderson (which he will continue to run alongside Dior), whose original collections have earned him critical acclaim. But his crowning achievement is undeniably his 11-year tenure at Loewe: Under his leadership, the once-struggling LVMH brand became one of the group's most desirable names.
