

Ukrainians should once again be able to watch live parliamentary debates on television beginning Tuesday, September 16. The measure was approved by Ruslan Stefanchuk, president of the Verkhovna Rada, the lower house of Parliament, on September 4.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion in February 2022, debates had been broadcast with a delay of several hours. This decision, intended to prevent the Russian military from targeting Parliament during sessions, had come under increasing criticism. "The decision to stop broadcasting live made perfect sense at the time," said Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, chair of the parliamentary committee on freedom of expression. "But today, we know how to react in case of an air raid: We go to shelters, like the rest of the country."
