At 12:50 pm local time this Friday, March 28, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Myanmar and its neighboring country, Thailand. The tremors were felt as far away as China.

Many injured and dead lay on the ground outside the damaged emergency ward of the general hospital in Myanmar's capital, Naypyidaw, due to lack of space. In Bangkok, a 30-floor building collapsed, and scenes of panic followed the evacuation of offices and stores. The death toll is not yet known.
