At 10 pm on January 18, the far-right French press review account Fdesouche published comments made by MEP Marion Maréchal on the CNews television channel on X. In a video, the French MEP condemned the accusations of foreign interference piled on Elon Musk and argued that no one on the left has spoken out against the private funding that benefits various organizations in Europe and the US thanks to another billionaire, George Soros. Musk regularly taunts Soros on X, which Musk owns, with implicit antisemitism.

About half an hour later, Pierre Sautarel, the founder of Fdesouche, posted the same video, but this time, subtitled in English. In the same post also written in English, he directly tagged Musk's official X account, to get his attention. No matter if the billionaire didn't respond, the far-right activist had found a new objective, which was to attract the attention of the platform's owner and his virtual troops. During the night, he launched Fdesouche.com in English, where he posts translations of his tweets that are most likely to interest an English-speaking audience, and perhaps hoping to join the exclusive club of X accounts that Musk uses as sources of information on European news.
