The site is a cornerstone for so-called "humorous" cryptocurrencies (known as memecoins or "shitcoins") launched on the Solana blockchain, which is one of the most popular crypto ecosystems. Some of these broadcasts are illegal in many countries, including France, yet Pump.fun's services and footage remain fully accessible.

All these videos were created by unknown users or influencers seeking an audience, using the mechanism implemented by Pump.fun: a live video and chat accompanying the often very short lifespan of a memecoin. The live video window is embedded in the page, where anyone can track the value of the "token," and buy or sell it via a virtual Solana token wallet.
