On Wednesday, August 27, her successor was also summoned to provide explanations after the broadcast that morning of an investigative report on DR, the public broadcaster.

The report exposed an "attempted infiltration" of Greenland by individuals in Donald Trump's inner circle. Citing eight anonymous sources, the journalists identified at least three people close to the US president who regularly visited the island to carry out activities aimed at "fracturing relations with Denmark," according to DR.

One of these men – whose identities have not yet been disclosed by the broadcaster – allegedly drew up a list of Greenlanders most sympathetic to the American billionaire, with the aim of recruiting them to form a "secession movement" on the island. He also reportedly identified the most ardent opponents. "This American, who has been seen on several occasions in the company of the US president, was recently appointed to a position that could give him influence over US security policy," DR noted.
