Since the Russian invasion and, even more so, since Trump's return to the White House, "we have been put on notice to accept practices that we reject, to review the charters of our freedoms, to rethink the rules of democracy and freedom of expression, to abandon our concern for decency in order to accept the indecency that they would like to impose on us," he said. From now on, "force alone, violence and brutality is enough to settle conflicts," continued Bayrou, deploring "the end of the law of the just, the reign of the law of the strongest".
