What can be said about the place, other than it's majestic? Just across the famous Place d'Armes from the entrance to the Château de Versailles is the Grande Ecurie (Main Stables). Long abandoned, it reopened in 2003 when horse rider, scenographer, and producer Bartabas decided to create a center for equestrian and artistic training. The site has since been bustling with creativity. Young artists in residence work on their dancing, singing, and fencing – all while riding.

Every weekend, the troupe performs an hour-long show in the wooden arena lit by glass chandeliers. Called "La Voie de l'Ecuyère" ("The Equestrian's Way"), the show has been performed for 20 years, with a new score every year. It's a chance to admire the company's 40 Lusitano horses with their blue eyes and splendid cream coats. After the show, the magic continues with a tour of the stables. It's guaranteed to amaze both adults and children over the age of seven.

The national equestrian Academy of Versailles, Grande Ecurie du Château de Versailles, Avenue Rockefeller, Versailles. Saturdays at 6 pm, Sundays at 3 pm, and Wednesdays at 3 pm during school vacations, all zones combined. Show price: €30, concessions €22 and €16 for children under 12. The ticket includes a tour of the stables.

When you hear the words "equestrian center," you probably imagine a place surrounded by calm and greenery. However, there are horse riding clubs in urban areas and even in Paris, such as the Equivil Center in La Villette. Founded in 1977, it continues to welcome enthusiasts, especially children. In addition to regular lessons throughout the year, you can also take part in vacation workshops. Introductory pony courses are available for children aged two and over, and older children can try out unusual sports such as archery on horseback or horseball during these workshops. Horse lovers can also book ethology sessions, a discipline focused on animal behavior and well-being – the center underscores its commitment to this area. On June 2, for the Pony Festival, the club will open its doors to families for demonstrations and a showcase horse riding and attractions.
