On foot, by bike, or by boat: there are countless easy and leisurely ways to explore Paris at your own pace. But some options are more original or sociable than others.

Like its friendly namesake, the bus operated by Les Canards de Paris travels on both road and water. Marcel – the affectionate nickname for this unusual vehicle – does not shy away from getting wet to introduce young and delighted passengers to Paris' best spots during a one-hour-and-forty-five-minute ride. Setting off from Champ-de-Mars, it heads along Quai Branly, past the museum of the same name, toward the most iconic landmarks in western Paris. Then Marcel heads for the Hauts-de-Seine department to take to the water near the Ile de Monsieur for a twenty-minute cruise. While sailing, you can spot La Défense, the Parc de Saint-Cloud, and the miniature Statue of Liberty on the Ile aux Cygnes (on the Seine, between the 15th and 16th arrondissements). The tour ends back on dry land, just beneath the Eiffel Tower. Keep an eye on the website – on some weekends, Marcel ventures out to Cergy (Val-d'Oise department) or Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne department) for an even more bucolic, but equally charming, excursion.
