On February 10, France will host the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit in Paris, which will see numerous heads of state, scientists and tech entrepreneurs – including OpenAI boss Sam Altman and Google CEO Sundar Pichai – throng beneath the glass roof of the Grand Palais. And at exactly the same time, Eric Sadin, a French philosopher and specialist in the digital world, will be at the Théâtre de la Concorde for an AI counter-summit, co-organized with journalist Eric Barbier, who specializes in generative AI within the National Journalists Union.

There is a simple principle behind the counter-demonstration, called "For a humanism of our time." "Everyone at the Action Summit," said Sadin, "will delight in describing to us a rosy future, with regulations that will supposedly protect us from going astray. They'll be vying with each other to invest in the future. But generative AIs, which represent the intellectual and creative watershed of AI, should make us ask ourselves cultural and civilizational questions: Today, tasks that once required our intellectual and creative faculties are being performed by AIs in an infinitely faster, supposedly more reliable and less expensive way. How can we fail to see the hurricane that is about to sweep through high-cognition professions?"
