Although already widely documented in the press, the spectacular enrichment of Viktor Orban's family and friends is even more eloquent when brought to the screen. Entitled The Dynasty, a documentary produced by the investigative website Direkt36 has been a resounding success in Hungary since it was uploaded to YouTube on February 7, with almost three million views as of February 20.
"We knew there would be some interest in the subject, but we certainly didn't expect millions of views," said Andras Pethö, director of Direkt36 and producer of the film, which, on paper, has already been seen by a third of Hungary's population. While Direkt36 is one of the news sites that publishes the most in-depth investigations into the nationalist prime minister's affairs, this film has attracted an unprecedented audience in just two weeks.
