Sociedad Textil Lonia (STL) announced the acquisition of the Christian Lacroix brand on Tuesday, January 7. Owned since 2005 by the American group Falic, which specializes in duty-free sales, the brand founded in 1987 by Christian Lacroix is joining the Spanish company. STL is known for operating CH Carolina Herrera, the second line of the Carolina Herrera brand, a subsidiary of the Spanish Puig group, as well as Purificacion Garcia. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

Christian Lacroix, the brand's founder, now aged 73, welcomed the transaction, reports news site Vogue Business. The man who now devotes his time to creating costumes for the theater and opera founded his brand in 1987 with the backing of the LVMH group.

At the time, the fashion house was known for its exuberant, colorful creations with Hispanic and religious inspirations. In 2005, the LVMH group sold the loss-making brand to the Falic group. Christian Lacroix staged his last show in 2009, when the company was in receivership. Since then, the Christian Lacroix name has been used for home furnishings and linen collections designed by its artistic director, Sacha Walckhoff.
