Fidias Panayiotou, the 24-year-old Cypriot influencer who was elected in the June 2024 European elections, was particularly active during the debate on digital regulation, held in the European Parliament on Tuesday, January 21. In particular, he asked his colleagues to invite Elon Musk, who owns X, and Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, to come and exchange views with them. "I love you all," he concluded, as he always does.

Usually, the young MEP, a social media enthusiast, prefers to post videos on X or Instagram recounting a European Union (EU) he finds highly complex, when he's not asking his millions of followers what position he should adopt on this or that EU policy subject. After consulting them on whether he should join the Green group, he eventually stayed with the Non-attached members.

In recent weeks, however, Panayiotou has taken various stands in defense of "freedom of expression" and in support of Musk, who sometimes shares his posts on X. At a time when the American billionaire's interference in German and British politics is worrying many Europeans, the young man once again took to the podium on Tuesday to defend the entrepreneur who is now part of US President Trump's administration.
