A Christian man in Pakistan has been sentenced to death for apparently receiving “blasphemous” cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed on his phone. Noman Masih, who is reportedly between the age of 19 and 22, was condemned to death by the Court of Bahawalpur, per the Daily Mail.

The young man was arrested in 2019 for violating 295-c of the Penal Code, which seeks to punish contempt demonstrated toward the Prophet Mohammed. The ruling came down on May 30. However, Masih was reportedly sent the so-called “blasphemous” images by a Muslim man, but there has been no action taken against him, according to Agenzia Fides, the Vatican’s news agency.
