"The attack happened around the Châtelet-Les Halles forum in the early hours of Saturday morning," stated an investigating source. "She was walking back from a concert at the Olympia music venue and says she was approached by a group of men. They surrounded her, and attacked her, and the fear is that they recorded their actions using their mobile phones."
The "Fete de la Musiqe," translated to "Make Music Day" in English, is a nationally recognized event in France celebrated with music festivals and concerts across the country, with even one being hosted by President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee presidential palace. The events have also been notoriously plagued with rampant crime.
This past Friday was no exception with multiple alleged crimes having been committed including an alleged attempted murder. A brawl broke out during another event in Paris, sending 5 people to the hospital, one with serious injuries. A blade was reportedly involved in the fight, prompting an "attempted intentional murder" investigation.
At another event in the Saint-Maur-des-Fossés suburb of Paris, 5 teenage girls were injected with an unknown substance that left them dizzy and nauseous with fevers, Daily Mail reports. Police were unable to make any arrests.
On the Fete de la Musique in 2021, another gang rape, which was also filmed, occurred close to the Champs Elysees. The footage of the attack was posted to social media and was used to attempt to find the attackers. Police were unable to find them however and the case remains active.
