Donald Trump may be able to claim presidential immunity over his actions related to the Jan 6 riots, the Supreme Court has ruled.
The decision, which is currently being reviewed by The Telegraph, comes in response to an appeal from Trump that he should not be prosecuted for actions taken while he was president.
He has been accused of attempting to overturn the 2020 election results in the final days of his presidency in 2021, and of encouraging Jan 6 rioters on Capitol Hill.
The appeal is one of many legal challenges Trump has launched in response to the four cases against him, and could now also be applied to a separate case in Georgia.
In May, the former president was found guilty of business fraud over “hush money” payments he made to Stormy Daniels, an adult film star.
