As the stalemate over the speaker election continues, Donald Trump‘s niece, Mary Trump, took a dig at Republican lawmakers in a tweet.

Former Republican Congressman and political analyst, John Kasich, has been proposing a solution to resolve the stalemate.

“A coalition of Democrats needs to partner with Republicans to elect a leader who will marginalize the extremes on both sides and get our Congress governing again. They owe it to the American people,” he said on X.

Speaking on MSNBC, Kasich reiterated his idea.

“Kasich just went on MSBC and said it was the Democrats’ job to help Republicans pick their leader,” Mary Trump said on X.

She pointed out that there was no precedent for this, stating, “ZERO Republicans voted for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House in 2007. ZERO Republicans voted for her in 2021.”

“It would be extremely helpful if the media remembered this,” she added, along with an “eye-rolling” emoji.

Kasich just went on MSBC and said it was the Democrats’ job to help Republicans pick their leader:

ZERO Republicans voted for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House in 2007.
ZERO Republicans voted for her in 2021.

It would be extremely helpful if the media remembered this. ????

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OHIO) was nominated by the Republican party for the speaker post last week after initially facing rejection. Jordan did not garner enough votes in the first round of voting held on Monday.

The negative verdict followed 20 Republicans joining the Democrats in voting against Jordan, who is perceived as a hardliner and is backed by Donald Trump. Republicans hold a slight lead over the Democrats in the House, with a 221:212 margin and two vacant seats.

This means the House remains without a speaker during a critical time when geopolitical tensions have escalated in the Middle East, and the economy is grappling with uncertainties.
