Rock History Pics wrote, “Happy 80th birthday to one of the greatest guitar players of all-time – Jimmy Page. The guitarist left The Yardbirds to form Led Zeppelin and the rest is history.

My Daily Record also called Page “one of the greatest guitar heroes of all time” and noted his long musical history.

Page had a few guitar lessons when he was 12 years old and continued learning on his own from there. Before co-founding Led Zeppelin, he was a member of the Yardbirds from 1966 to 1968, a group that featured various famous guitarists like Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton.

He also worked as a studio musician, playing for the Who and The Kinks. Then Page found success with Led Zeppelin, which sold more than 200 million records and remains one of the top-selling bands of all time.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. In 1992, he received the honor for his work with the Yardbirds, and then in 1995, he was honored for playing in Led Zeppelin.

Page originally wanted to work in biology to find a cure for cancer. Although music took him in a different direction, he has done charity work for Task Brazil and Action For Brazil’s Children’s Trust, which earned him an appointment as Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) and honorary citizenship to Rio de Janeiro.
