ORLANDO — For a limited time, Red Lobster's menu will be updated to include a "Box of Things We Found at the Beach."
Inspired by finding random things at the beach, Red Lobster CEO David Lobster said he hopes customers will appreciate the surprise and wonder that comes with eating whatever you find at the beach that day.
"Who knows what you'll find," Lobster said. "You could be ordering a crab or a few sand dollars and a discarded plastic bag. It just depends on what our chef finds on the beach that day."
"Box of Things We Found at the Beach" comes hot off the heels of Red Lobster's new Seafood Boil, itself just a bag of random seafood products thrown together in a bag. The two items are part of Red Lobster's new "scavenge the land as a homeless person" advertising campaign.
Early reviews of "Box of Things We Found at the Beach" has been mixed. Customers praise it for the surprise value, but say that the food leaves a bit to be desired. "I just didn't get full off of fishing line and part of an umbrella. Man, that umbrella was chewy," said local customer Darnell Smith.
It's a hit with kids, however, because sometimes there are old toys inside. "Mine came with an old can!" said one excited child.
At publishing time, Red Lobster was once again forced to file for bankruptcy.
