U.S. — In a feature that fans praised for bringing a new level of realism to the playing experience, developers of the WNBA mode for the new NBA 2K26 added an option to shiv Caitlin Clark.
Early feedback provided rave reviews, with players reporting that they had never seen a video game so perfectly simulate what happens on the real-life WNBA court. One reviewer cited the shivving of Clark as a milestone in professional sports simulation video games.
"I can severely injure Caitlin Clark just like a real WNBA player!" the reviewer said. "I was playing in a game against the Indiana Fever, and the game prompted me to press the ‘X' button when my player was guarding Ciatlin Clark. I pressed the button, and — BOOM — instant shiv. Now I know what it's like to violently assault the WNBA's biggest star. Thanks, 2K Games!"
A spokesman for the game's developer said the new feature was a natural progression in the evolution of sports games. "Shivving Ciatlin Clark is what the WNBA is all about these days," said 2K Games marketing representative Dave Keebler. "A basketball game featuring WNBA players just wouldn't feel real if you couldn't maim Caitlin Clark. We wanted to make realism a priority this year, which meant giving gamers the opportunity to spill Cailin Clark's blood all over the hardwood. This year's edition provides full immersion into the WNBA playing experience."
At publishing time, developers revealed that their priority for next year's game would allow gamers to play in a special "Caitlin Clark Career Mode" that would have them constantly taking trips to the hospital while suffering injuries viciously inflicted by opposing players.
