D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services rescued a woman whose arm got stuck in a freight elevator door in the District, with the medics taking her to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The woman, unidentified by city fire officials, got her arm trapped in the door sometime before 7:39 p.m. Friday at an apartment building in the 2400 block of 16th Street NW, D.C. Fire and EMS said on social media.

The building is the Dorchester House in Adams Morgan, according to Washington’s WJLA-TV. Other residents of the building told another D.C. station, WTTG-TV, that the victim uses a wheelchair and has a service dog.

D.C. Fire and EMS said Friday night it had no updates on the woman’s condition.

The D.C. Department of Buildings told WTTG that an inspector at Dorchester House ordered the elevator removed from service following the incident and that city officials will investigate why the elevator failed.
