A woman died in Atlanta Friday after her car was launched into a wall following a collision with an empty utility truck parked on the shoulder of Interstate 20.
The accident occurred sometime after 4 a.m. The unnamed victim, driving a white sedan, merged onto the highway going westbound out of the right lane.
She veered onto the shoulder and struck the truck, the Atlanta Police Department said in a release.
The truck’s occupants were doing utility work on lights when the collision occurred, and neither of the two workers were harmed.
The sedan then crossed the interstate, slamming into a wall on the left side of the road before the car came to a rest.
Atlanta EMS pronounced the woman dead at the scene, police said.
The westbound lanes of I-20 were partially shut down for hours as responders investigated the crash.
