A Mega Millions lottery ticket worth more than $30 million expired this week after going unclaimed for six months.

The ticket was bought at a Publix grocery store in Jacksonville, Florida, for the Mega Millions drawing on Aug. 15, 2023, the lottery said in a statement. The deadline to claim the ticket was Sunday at midnight.

While the ticket was advertised at $36 million, the Mega Millions lottery history page lists it as a $39 million prize with a lump cash option of $18.9 million.

The unclaimed prize money will be split, with 80% going to Florida’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund and 20% going toward future prizes.

The last time a Mega Millions winning ticket wasn’t claimed was a $31 million ticket in an August 2006 drawing, bought in New York City’s borough of Queens.
