President Biden is recovering well from COVID-19 and his symptoms are nearly gone, his doctor said Monday.

Mr. Biden received the positive update one day after deciding to quit the presidential race and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the Democratic ticket against former President Donald Trump.

“His symptoms have almost resolved completely. His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature remain absolutely normal. His oxygen saturation continues to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear,” Dr. Kevin O’Connor wrote in a memo.

The doctor said Mr. Biden continues to perform all of his presidential duties while isolating in Delaware and completed a tenth dose of Paxlovid, a Pfizer treatment for COVID-19.

Mr. Biden, 81, tested positive for the coronavirus while traveling in Nevada last week. He quarantined at his Delaware home, a pause that coincided with intense pressure for him to reflect on his age and whether his candidacy was viable after a poor debate performance in late June.

“My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Mr. Biden wrote Sunday on X. “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”
