A bipartisan group of lawmakers gathered on the steps of the Capitol on Thursday night and held a vigil for Israel and the lives lost, including the Americans killed, taken hostage, and injured by Hamas attackers.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-FL, wiping her eyes spoke on her personal expeirence, “For me, as a as a member of Congress, as a Jew, as a Zionist, as a human being. This moment of us coming together, whether it’s this, that the disorganization and disunity in Israel prior to this point or here in our country, when Israel and the United States need one another. It’s moments like this where we step up.”

Rev. Dr. Margaret Grun Kibben who is the Chaplain of the United States House of Representatives recited the prayer for the vigil.
