A new round of layoffs is expected to hit The Washington Post this week.
According to a new report, the legacy media outlet will cut dozens of staffers from its newspaper division. The exact date and number of layoffs haven’t been determined. Former CNN reporter Oliver Darcy was the first to report on the layoffs in his Status newsletter.
The Post previously announced layoffs in September, cutting 54 staffers from its tech divisions.
The incoming layoffs come on the heels of the departure of Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Ann Telnaes. She left the paper over the weekend after The Post refused to publish a cartoon featuring Jeff Bezos, the paper’s owner, bowing to President-elect Donald Trump.
The cartoonist’s departure likely increased tension at the paper. In October, the Post faced backlash from subscribers and staff after it decided not to endorse either presidential candidate.
Over 250,000 customers canceled their subscriptions.
