Travelers looking to book accommodations for the inauguration Monday of President-elect Donald Trump should act fast — at least 70% of all hotels in the Washington region are filled.

The quadrennial event is drawing crowds to the city both to celebrate and to protest Mr. Trump’s re-entry into the nation’s highest office.

On Booking.com, 77% of 136 listed hotels are unavailable for two adults looking to stay from Friday through Tuesday.

Analytics firm STR, a subsidiary of CoStar, told WTOP-FM Tuesday that about 70% of hotels have been booked for the inauguration.

D.C. tourism nonprofit Destination D.C. had 86 hotels with rooms available to book for two adults between Friday and next Tuesday across the greater Washington region, compared to 53 that were sold out.

The influx is not a shock, as around 94% of hotels in the region were booked for Mr. Trump’s first inauguration in 2017, according to WTOP-FM.

“People are still interested in coming, and we’re seeing more and more momentum from hotels. We’re waiting to see exactly what will happen in terms of short-term bookings,” Destination D.C. President Elliott Ferguson told WTOP-FM.

While some have projected an inauguration bump for luxury hotels, others are expecting a mixed crowd to travel into D.C. for the inauguration.

“Candidly, we’ve also seen some midscale hotels get busy whenever there are events associated with the former president. We think it will be a diverse mix of customers,” Donohoe Hospitality Services President Thomas Penny told the Washington Business Journal.
