Police in Virginia said they arrested and charged a middle school teacher earlier this month with pulling a gun on a group of kids who played a doorbell prank on the woman.

Fredericksburg police said they took Doronda Bailey, 35, into custody on Jan. 12 for misdemeanor weapons charges related to the incident.

Authorities said Ms. Bailey, a teacher at Walker Grant Middle School, was booked in the Rappahannock Regional Jail. She was released on bond two days later.

Police said a group of five juveniles rang Ms. Bailey’s doorbell twice on the day of the incident before running off.

That’s when police said the teacher drove up to the juveniles, threatened them, then flashed a gun.

Ms. Bailey’s employment status with Fredericksburg City Public Schools is unknown. Online court records also don’t show any future hearings related to Ms. Bailey’s weapons charges.

The school system shared a statement about the teacher with WTTG, the Fox affiliate in the District.

“The Fredericksburg City Public Schools is aware of the report indicating the arrest of a teacher related to an alleged incident involving juveniles. At this time, we are unable to comment, as we understand there is an ongoing investigation. Additionally, we do not comment on personnel matters,” Deputy Superintendent Matthew Eberhardt told the station.

“What we can share is that we take this situation very seriously,” he said. “Our focus is on everyone’s safety and wellbeing.”
