NextImg:Violent Labor Day weekend sees 7 killed in D.C.

Seven people were gunned down throughout the District of Columbia during the Labor Day weekend.

D.C. police said the most recent slaying occurred around 6:45 p.m. Monday, when an 18-year-old man was gunned down in the 900 block of Wahler Place SE.

No other details about the shooting were shared by authorities.

Police said another man was mortally wounded by gunfire Monday morning in the 6000 block of Dix Street NE.

Officers arrived at the scene of the shooting around 1:35 a.m. to find the victim, who later died in a hospital. Police identified the man as Marquette West, 29, of District Heights, Maryland.

The two slayings closed out a holiday weekend that started with five people dying in four shootings over a 24-hour period.

Authorities said a D.C. man was shot and killed Friday afternoon in the Marshall Heights neighborhood.

Metropolitan Police are looking for two suspects in connection to the incident.

The first is described as a Black man, about 5-foot-7, last seen wearing a red shirt, blue jean shorts and black and red Nike shoes. The other is described as a heavyset woman last seen wearing a tan shirt and tan bottoms.

The next killing occurred around 11:10 p.m. in the 100 block of Farragut Street NW, where D.C. police said a Maryland man died from gunshot wounds.

Three teen-age women were shot less than an hour later in the 1300 block of 7th Street NW.

All three were taken to the hospital, where an 18- and 19-year-old succumbed to their injuries. The third, age 15, was last reported to be in critical but stable condition.

Police said they found a 15-year-old boy dead from a gunshot wound inside a D.C. residence Saturday morning.

D.C. homicides are up 29% this year, with 183 killings recorded through Tuesday.

The city is on track to record more than 200 homicides for the third straight year.
