The Jamaica Plain neighborhood branch of the Boston Public Library got an odd return last week — a vinyl Motown record 45 years overdue.
The Junior Walker and the All Stars “Anthology” album, first released by the Detroit music label in 1974, was due on Oct. 27, 1978, the library posted on Facebook.
The record was finally returned Wednesday. Luckily for the person who returned it, the Boston Public Library no longer has fines for late returns.
The item was no longer in Jamaica Plain’s records, since branch locations stopped stocking vinyl records in the four decades the record was checked out.
It had been checked out of a different location, the Egleston Square branch, and staff informed the Boston Central Library archivists about the returned piece, according to the Jamaica Plain News.
