NextImg:Video shows drunk driver calling Nebraska police on himself after driving on wrong side of the road

New video footage released by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office in Nebraska shows a drunk driver calling the police on himself after driving on the wrong side of the road.

The incident took place in March, but law enforcement only released the footage publicly on Facebook on Thursday.

The driver thought he was calling the cops on someone else. The motorist, unnamed by deputies, was cogent enough to explain that he was going northbound on U.S. Route 77 while the oncoming vehicle he reported to police was going southbound.

By the time the responding deputy arrived and pulled him over, the driver had realized what had happened.

After being asked if he knew why he had been stopped, the driver responded, “Yeah, because I was on the wrong side of the road,” further supposing that he must have missed an exit.

The deputy then asked if he was the guy who called in. The driver said yes because he thought someone else was driving on the wrong side of the road, and the deputy responded by saying, “but it was you.”

“Yep, like a dumb [expletive],” the driver said.

TRUE STORY - drunk driver calls 911 on himself. Thankfully a Lancaster County Sheriff’s deputy was able to arrest this driver before anyone was seriously hurt. Additional deputies will be on patrol during the Labor Day weekend. #drivesoberorgetpulledover

The video from the sheriff’s office said that the driver had a blood alcohol content over twice the legal limit.
