Sen. J.D. Vance has agreed to debate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on CBS News on Oct. 1 as the two try to make their mark as their parties’ vice presidential nominees.

“The American people deserve as many debates as possible, which is why President Trump has challenged Kamala to three of them already,” Mr. Vance, Ohio Republican, wrote on X Thursday.

“Not only do I accept the CBS debate on October 1st, I accept the CNN debate on September 18th as well. I look forward to seeing you at both!” he said.

Mr. Walz, Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, agreed Wednesday to the Oct. 1 face-off.

“See you on October 1, JD,” Mr. Walz wrote on X while reposting a CBS News proposal it sent to both campaigns.

The network’s X post listed four potential dates for a New York City debate: Sept. 17, Sept. 24, Oct. 1 and Oct. 8.

It’s unclear whether Mr. Walz will agree to the Sept. 18 debate with Mr. Vance. The Washington Times has reached out to the Harris-Walz campaign for comment.
