Federal authorities have now arrested 2,711 members of Tren de Aragua, the notorious Venezuela-based gang, Attorney General Pam Bondi said Friday.

She blamed the huge number of gang members in the U.S. on President Biden for opening the border and allowing TdA to gain a foothold in this country. The gang was almost unknown until recent years.

“You should all feel safer now,” Ms. Bondi told reporters at the White House.

The Trump administration has designated TdA a terrorist organization, and President Trump has used that designation to justify speedy deportations of TdA suspects under the Alien Enemies Act.

Some experts have said the administration is overstating the threat of TdA, which has a larger presence in South America.
