Mexico says it has been the recipient of 14,470 deportees since President Trump took office on Jan. 20 — a rate that’s slightly lower than in the final year of the Biden administration.

Mexican news outlets said President Claudia Sheinbaum revealed the numbers at a press conference Monday.

Of the total, 11,379 were Mexican and 3,091 were from other countries.

The pace of removals works out to 499 deportations a day, which is less than the 570 a day in President Biden’s final months.

That drop is likely due to the lower number of illegal immigrants crossing the border in the first place and doesn’t reflect the increase in arrest activity within the U.S. interior.

In 2024, 83% of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s total deportations came from the border agency.
