NextImg:University of Maryland bus crashes into light pole, leaving 30 passengers with minor injuries

A University of Maryland shuttle bus crashed into a light pole in College Park, Maryland, sending 30 passengers to a local hospital with minor injuries and shutting down traffic.

The bus was carrying 56 people Wednesday morning on Baltimore Avenue southbound when it crashed near the off-ramp to University Boulevard, according to the Prince George’s County Fire Department.

Units were dispatched to the crash at around 10:20 a.m. and rescued the passengers aboard, the department wrote in a post on X.

Fire officials in an updated post mentioned the 30 people who were transported locally for minor injuries, noting “26 patient refusals.”

As of 11:13 a.m., all lanes on Baltimore Avenue were still closed to vehicle traffic, the University of Maryland Police wrote on X.
