Picketing United Auto Worker members suffered minor injuries after they were struck by a car leaving a facility Tuesday.

The workers were picketing just outside the Flint Processing Center in Swartz Creek, Michigan, when an employee tried to leave the plant at 4 p.m. and was met by them blocking the exit.

According to police, the employee then drove through the picket line. Local UAW leadership reported that five people were hit by the vehicle, with two of them going to the hospital due to injuries.

Police have not located the employee but are working with the plant for ID.

The Flint facility is one of the 38 locations that are part of the UAW’s expanded strike measures implemented last week. The strike, in its 12th day, is heating up, especially after a visit from President Biden on Tuesday.
