A pair of suspects have been arrested, accused by the New York Police Department of getting into an unoccupied subway car and operating the train, which led to a collision.

At around 12:08 a.m. on Sept. 12, the two suspects, a girl in a pink shower cap and pink clothing and a guy in blue with red shorts and a backpack, got onto the train at the Briarwood subway station, the NYPD said on X, before running it and causing the wreck.

No one was injured, and the pair fled the scene before they could be apprehended.

“It was an extremely foolish and reckless act of two individuals accessing live track in order to get access to our train. The train was moved approximately 50 feet,” Demetrius Crichlow, New York City Transit’s interim president, said at a press conference Wednesday.

Both 17-year-old suspects were arrested this week, the NYPD posted Thursday.

The pair have been charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment, police told New York’s PIX11.
