A pair of U.S. Postal Service mail carriers were robbed at gunpoint in two separate incidents in Denver Monday. Authorities say one group of suspects is responsible.

At around 5 p.m., two of the suspects robbed the first carrier in the city’s Montbello neighborhood.

Soon thereafter, the second carrier was robbed a mile away, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s Denver office said in a reward poster posted on X.

The suspects then fled in a white Hyundai Sonata driven by the third suspect. The agency is offering $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.

The postal service didn’t say what was stolen from the two unnamed victims. Neither victim was injured, U.S. Postal Inspector Melissa Atkin told Denver Fox affiliate KDVR-TV.

Crime against mail carriers has spiked in the state, going from zero incidents to at least 14 the past three years, Colorado State Association of Letter Carriers President Richard Byrne told The Denver Gazette.

“We’ve gotten to the point where we are now targets on a daily basis,” Mr. Byrne said.

The union is calling for harsher consequences for those who target mail carriers, such as federal prosecution.

“Now you’re having to keep your head on a swivel and wonder, is there going to be a robbery or an assault or an attack? … The word needs to get out that letter carriers are untouchable. Don’t mess with them. You will have consequences if you go after letter carriers,” Mr. Byrne told NBC’s KUSA.
