NextImg:Trump to implement a freeze on government hiring

President Trump will implement a freeze on bureaucratic hiring with certain exceptions, an email from his team said Monday.

“The president will usher in a Golden Age for America by reforming and improving the government bureaucracy to work for the American people,” said the White House email laying out his first priorities. “He will freeze bureaucrat hiring except in essential areas to end the onslaught of useless and overpaid DEI [diversity, equity and inclusion] activists buried into the federal workforce.”

The freeze will be a part of his “drain the swamp” agenda and mirrors an initiative he took at the beginning of his first term.

The memorandum he signed in January 2017 put a freeze on federal government hiring except military and other positions that were deemed necessary. He gave the Office of Management and Budget a deadline to come up with a long-term plan to lower the number of federal government employees.

The memorandum, sent Monday shortly after he was sworn in, laid out different priorities he will be taking.

Other priorities listed under the “drain the swamp” agenda include pausing “burdensome and radical regulations not yet in effect” from the Biden administration, improving government accountability, mandating federal workers back to in-office, ending the weaponization of government against political rivals and ending censorship by the federal government.
