President Trump urged House Republicans Wednesday to not let Democrats get in the way of passing his “big, beautiful bill” as House GOP leaders try to send the key tax cut and spending bill to the president’s desk by the self-imposed deadline of Friday.
“Republicans, don’t let the Radical Left Democrats push you around. We’ve got all the cards, and we are going to use them,” Mr. Trump wrote in a social media post Wednesday. “Last year America was a ‘DEAD’ Nation, with no hope for the future, and now it’s the ‘HOTTEST NATION IN THE WORLD!’”
The bill is now in the hands of the House after narrowly passing the Senate Tuesday, with Vice President J.D. Vance providing the tie-breaking vote.
The mega-bill passed the House Rules Committee early Wednesday and now heads to the House floor for debate. While Democrats are opposed, the bill also faces objections from some conservative fiscal hawks and from moderate Republicans in blue states.
The House approved its version of the legislation in May by a single vote.
The measure includes an extension of the 2017 income tax cuts that are due to expire at the end of this year, cuts to Medicaid, and more funding for border security and other Trump administration priorities.

“Nobody wants to talk about GROWTH, which will be the primary reason that the Big, Beautiful Bill will be one of the most successful pieces of legislation ever passed,” Mr. Trump wrote. “THIS GROWTH has already begun at levels never seen before. Trillions of Dollars are now being invested into the USA, more than ever before. Likewise, hundreds of Billions of Dollars in Tariffs are filling up the coffers of Treasury. The Tariff money has already arrived and is setting new records!”
The president said the U.S. is “growing our way out of the Sleepy Joe Biden MESS that he and the Democrats left us, and it is happening much faster than anyone thought possible.”
“Our Country will make a fortune this year, more than any of our competitors, but only if the Big, Beautiful Bill is PASSED!” he said. “As they say, Trump’s been right about everything, and this is the easiest of them all to predict.”
There has been a self-imposed deadline to get the bill on Mr. Trump’s desk by Independence Day for his signature.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, Louisiana Republican, told Fox News’s Sean Hannity Tuesday that he expects the vote “hopefully” in the House on Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. Some lawmakers were encountering difficulties returning to Washington due to severe weather and flight delays.
