President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Stephen Miller to be deputy chief of staff for policy for his second stint in the White House.

Mr. Miller is a longtime adviser to Mr. Trump. He served as a senior adviser during Mr. Trump’s first term and was central to many policy decisions he made, especially immigration issues. He also helped in speech writing.

A staunch advocate of strict immigration policies, Mr. Miller played a key role in Mr. Trump’s tough border policies, including the move to jail parents who entered the U.S. illegally with children in tow, a policy that was criticized by the left as family separations.

The pick was confirmed by Vice President-elect J.D. Vance.

“This is another fantastic pick by the president. Congrats @StephenM!” Mr. Vance said on X.

After Mr. Trump left office in 2021, Mr. Miller served as the president of America First Legal, which he founded that year.
